absence.io was founded in Munich at the beginning of 2014 by Nikbin Rohany, Karsten Grombach and Tim Kahrmann. Their big goal was to simplify personnel management in small and medium-sized companies by means of smart modular applications - absence management made easy.
Vacations and other absences are still managed manually in an alarming number of companies. In fact, to this day, vacation requests are often a time-consuming and tedious undertaking (although it should basically be no more difficult than ordering a cup of coffee). Our solution is a simple software that even small teams can use to automate their leave management and other HR processes cost-effectively and end up saving time and cash.
At first, absence.io started with a basic absence management system. But there's more to smart HR management than just vacation and absence planning. That's why we added our personnel file in 2017: cloud-based, accessible from anywhere, all data digitally in one place, with a personnel questionnaire for each employee and enough space for data storage. In 2018, time tracking was added - with simple "start-stop-continue" technology and connection to absence management. Intuitive, fast and simple - via browser, app and at that time still via hardware terminal. In 2021, we replaced this with an unbeatably intuitive app solution for tablets.
Our intuitive solution automates complicated HR processes and enables efficiency and transparency - anywhere, anytime. With our integrations, we unify the employee journey from application to onboarding to planning the first vacation. We want to roll out the red carpet for all employees, both small and large teams.

With now 15 employees from 8 countries in 2 cities, we are constantly working to make the HR world a little bit friendlier, easier and faster.
