Can employees clock in and out on mobile?
Yes, with absence.io employees can clock in and out on mobile. absence.io offers a terminal app that can be installed on internet-enabled devices with a front camera, such as tablets or smartphones. Employees can clock in and out at these mobile terminals using individual QR codes. Employees can also download the absence.io mobile app to their smartphone and use the built-in stopwatch to start, stop or pause time tracking.
Can geolocation be used to determine an employee’s location during time tracking?
No, absence.io does not use geolocation data to determine employee locations during time tracking. For data protection reasons and to protect employee privacy, no location tracking is carried out. Mobile time tracking still allows employees to record their working hours flexibly via the app – whether they work in the office, from home or on the go. If needed, mobile time tracking can also be disabled.
How does absence.io help ensure compliance with time tracking rules?
absence.io offers several features to support compliance with time tracking rules:
  • Compliance highlights: Non-compliant time entries are highlighted so employees and administrators can quickly identify and correct deviations.
  • Email notifications: Automatic notifications inform users about incorrect time entries or violations of working time regulations.
  • Employee protection and break settings: Administrators can define mandatory breaks after specific working hours. Automatic breaks can also be added to employee time entries.
  • Overtime and flexitime limits: Limits for maximum allowed positive and negative hours can be defined to support compliance with company policies.

Yes, absence.io provides a comprehensive overview of used and remaining vacation days. Employees can view their status at any time in both the calendar and their profile. Administrators also have access to advanced reporting features.
What happens if employees forget to clock in or out?
If employees forget to clock in or out, they can add or edit their time entries later in absence.io, provided this is allowed. Alternatively, administrators can make the correction. If a break was forgotten, it can also be added later in just a few clicks. Employees should regularly review their time entries and correct them when needed to ensure accurate working time records.
How suitable is absence.io’s time tracking software for flexitime models?
absence.io is well suited for flexitime models.
